The next World Stage Design will be held on August 5-15, 2021 in Calgary, Canada, by the OISTAT Canadian Centre CITT/ICTS and the Drama at the School of Creative and Performing Arts at the University of Calgary.
World Stage Design (WSD) is an OISTAT event held every 4 years that is comprised of 4 distinct components that are presented simultaneously:
1. International Design Exhibition and Competition
2. Scenofest
3. Theatre Architecture Competition (TAC)
4. Technical Invention Prize (TIP)
WSD 2021 International Design Exhibition and Competition
World Stage Design(WSD) is an international juried exhibition celebrating the best performance designs from over 35 countries. The WSD2021 exhibitions are open to all designers for performance as defined by the categories including Performance Design, Space Design, Set Design, Sound Design, Costume Design, Lighting Design, and Projection Design. While there is no pre-determined theme, during the curatorial process, a theme may emerge based on shared issues from around the world. Designers are invited to attend this global event, which will include Scenofest, offering opportunities for multicultural exchange.

Call for Performance at Scenofest 2021
Scenofest 2021 seeks performances that reflect the theme and vision of the Three Sisters of WSD2021. Performances should be around 60-90 minutes in length. We are aiming for each performance to be shown two or three times. Companies bringing performances are invited to consider also making a presentation, delivering a workshop, or holding a Q&A session that shares the work process. If you would like to make a presentation or deliver a practical workshop related to the performance, then please indicate your interest on the online form.
The final acceptance to present at WSD2021 will require the selected artists/companies to take responsibility for the transport of their performance to and from Calgary, Canada. WSD2021 will provide the venue, technical facilities, production personnel, and technical crew for the load in, operation, and load out. The WSD2021 Planning Committee will make the final selection from the submissions for performances. We will contact the finalists to coordinate all of the details required, including the performance venue information and technical needs.

東京都「アートにエールを!東京プロジェクト」

新型コロナウイルス感染拡大防止に伴い、活動を自粛せざるを得ない都内在住または都内を主な活動拠点とするプロのアーティスト、クリエイター、スタッフ等が対象。動画作品を募集し、専用サイトで配信。出演料として一人10万円、1作品最大100万円(ID個人登録をされたグループで10人迄のPJ可)支払い。アーティスト本人のほか、カメラワーク、照明、編集など携わった人も対象。*第一回目との関連は再募集Q&Aをご参照下さい。概要・募集要項は以下のサイトから。

東京都 無観客公演配信補助
*無観客や入場を制限して公演を開き、その公演の動画を都のウェブサイトで無料配信した場合が対象。
*支給額は、1公演につき200万円。
(経緯)皆さまのご意見、思いをもとに小池都知事へ強く要望(TFの会より)された「アートにエールを!」再募集&新たな支援策、が発表されました。
新たな支援(ステージ型)は、都内の劇場・ホール等で予定していた公演が中止・延期となった団体が、無観客や入場を制限して開催し、一定期間無料配信する公演などを支援します。制作支援金は、1件200万円。詳細は添付資料をご確認ください。
*6月29日~公募が開始されます。

OISTAT is pleased to present “OISTAT Education Week on Remote Teaching & Learning – Hosted by OISTAT Education Commission,” with 2-4 sessions per day on various aspects of theatre education in the last week of June.
COVID-19 pandemic has changed the way we live and affected educational systems worldwide. OISTAT Education week is a global  platform for who are interested in the future of theatre education to discuss the strategies educators and learners should take. We would like to invite you joining us to form new ideas and thoughts on theatre education.

Session 1 – Introduction of “OISTAT Education Week on Remote Teaching & Learning-Hosted by OISTAT Education Commission” & Overall Online Teaching & Learning Challenges
In Session 1, we will talk about the overall challenges of remote teaching and learning for educators and students worldwide. Please join us to share your own strategies for building productive and positive online teaching / learning environment.
Session 2 – Student & Faculty Physical/Mental/Emotional Heath
Safety and health matter! Join this session to know how other educators manage their physical & mental health during online teaching and how to keep students motivated.
Session 3 – Recruiting & Retaining Students during the Pandemic
Students recruitment in the COVID-19 pandemic is a common challenge for theatre programs all over the world. The session will focus on the ways of retaining current students and recruiting future students.
Session 4 – OISTAT Education Happy Hour
Although we live in uncertainty, OISTAT keeps providing platforms to connect worldwide theatre communities. Bring a cup of coffee/ tea/ beer or your favorite drink, have a causal chat with theatre-makers from other countries.
Session 5 – Social Distancing & Other Health Concerns for Productions
How does social distancing apply to theatre and live performances? How to produce socially distanced or online performances?  The session will provide you some thoughts on how to keep theatre “alive” during the pandemic.
Session 6 – Developing International Collaborations for Teaching & Learning Online
The session will focus on international collaborations of developing theatre learning outcomes. We sincerely invite you to work together with us to maximize the impact of global theatre community on theatre education.
Session 7 – Student Networking Event
Meet students and faculties from all corners of the world to discuss the successes and challenges of learning/teaching theatre online. Invite your students to join the sessions to reflect their experiences of remote learning and how they are doing in the quarantine period.

Session 9 – Focus Session: Teaching & Learning Theatre Architecture
Session 10 – Focus Session: Teaching & Learning Stage Management

Theatre heavily relies on practical works. How do we embrace virtual learning environment in theatre education? How to teach hands-on craft through online platform? Join Session 8 -15 to have discussions on the ways to teach and learn theatre architecture, theatre technology, stage management, theatre design and theatre research & dramaturgy.
Session 16 – Closing Discussion & The Future of Theatre
It’s time to rethink the possibilities of theatre education. Let’s brainstorm together how theatre and theatre education might change in the future.

  2. You will receive a link, Room ID and password to online meeting room from OISTAT Headquarters.
  3. Enter to the room with internet connection 5 minutes before each session. Use the web-version or download the app on your mobile phone/laptop beforehand.
